MEAT FOR EXPORT.
INCREASE IN PRICES
THE NEW SCHEDULE. Exporters are at present operating freely in the Auckland Province for all classes of meat. The prices now offered are the highest since the export season opened and they represent a further advance within the past two \vg ok s Owing to the continued improvement in the Home market, exporters are able to deal in all kinds of fat stock, whereas formerly the demand ■was confined to lambs, wethers and pigs. Prime ox beef is selling up to ids 6d per 1001 b and boner bulls and boner cows are being sought at 10s and 6s 6d respectively. 1 Current prices for lambs on hooks are:—36lb, 4Jd a lb; 371 b to 421 b, 3|d; 431 b and over, 3Jd; seconds, 3id. The previous rate was 4Jd for 361 b and 3}d for seconds. Wether prices are as follows: 481 b and under, 3}d a lb; 491 bto 561 b, 3d; 571 b to 641 b, 2Ad; 651 b to 721 b, 2Jd; over 721 b, lid; seconds, 2|d. The equivalent rates for ewes range from Id to 13d a lb. The rates show an advance of about Jd over those ruling at the end of last year. Pig prices are also higher, the following schedule being quoted:—Under 801 b, 4t(l a lb: 811 b to 1001 b, 4d; 1011 b to 1201 b, 33d; 1211 b to 1501 b, 3jd; seconds, id less allowed.
