HOWDEN SHIELD CONTEST. On Saturday teams from Glen Massey, Hunlly, Taupirl, and Ngaruawahia met on the Ngai’uawahia green to decide the I’lnk representing the northern group of the lioxvden Shield competition. . Glen Massey defeated Huntly by 21 points to 18. In tills game the winning team made a great recovery, being down by i 0 points to 2 on the sixth head. In a cloaely-cohtested game Ngaruawahia defeated Taupirl by 22 points to 14. The Glen Massey rink played splendid bowiß against Ngaruawahla in the final, winning by 31 points to 4.
Goldfields association. In the Goldfields champion rink competition Paeroa defeated Te Aroha on Saturday, the scores being: Williams, Pyc, Chamberlain, and Henderson (s, Paeroa), 22; v. A. D. Wallace, Powell, R. Buchan and T. Kriskovich (s, Te Aroha), 15.
