CRCMB SEEKS EXEMPTION. LEAVING FOR ENGLAND. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. A letter was before the New Zealand Cricket Council this evening from I. B. Cromb, making application to be exempted from his contract with the council not to accept an overseas engagement until two years after the New Zealand team’s English tour. Cromb stated that he was leaving for England In March. It was decided that ihe application be held over until a subsequent meeting. SCHOOL MATCHES. HEATHCOTE-WILLIAMS SHIELD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The New Zealand Cricket Council received a letter from the Christchurch Boys’ High School stating that it would not accept further challenges for I lie lloatlicote-Williams Shield. 'Phe council decided to ask the High School to return flic shield and to award it to Hie ilrsl challenger. The Christchurch Boys’ Cricket Association, in a letter to the .council, slated that as it considered unworkable I lie Wellington Association’s suggestion that, the New Zealand boys’ shield he competed for annually in cricket week at Wellington it was returning to the council the shield which it had held since it was given 12 years ago.
'Phc meeting decided that the association lie informed that as the original rules had been arrived at by agreement among the three associations they must lie amended by agreement. .
