The President, Marshal Hindenburg, has rejected Herr Hitler’s proposal; He says, "I cannot give a party leader Presidial powers, as such a Cabinet would be bound to develop party dictatorship, and increase the tension among the people.. I cannot take the responsibility for such a course before my oath and conscience.” The Nazis accuse President Hindenburg of playing an unfair game, lie never intended to give Herr Hitler power.
