PORT WAIKATO CAMP,

HOLIDAY BY THE SEA. OUTING FOR NEEDY CHILDREN, LEAGUE APPEALS FOR AID. There are many worthy sooial ments in existence, but it is doubtful whether there is one more deserving of support than the Waikato Child-* ren’s Gamp League. ' For a number* of years this organisation has a valuable community service in pro-* viding an annual holiday at its final camp at Port Waikato for 200 needy Waikato children. Without the as-* sistance of the League most of thesei children would have had no option but to spend all the school holidays at home.

The time has arrived to commence preparations for this year’s camp, ami the League is again appealing to those more fortunately situated for assistance in acquiring sufficient funds to send the full complement of children to the camp. It is not only Hamilton youngsters who are concerned in the League's activities. Applications are received from all parts of the Waikato, and as far as possible, no worthy case is turned away. Last year the names of nearly four hundred children came forward. The league has as its motto' “ None may enter who can pay, none can pay who enter,” and from this it will be recognised that the appeal for support is a worthy one. " I visited your children’s camp at the Waikato Heads in January, and f was very pleasantly surprised at the excellent lay-out of the buildings ami the general surroundings of the Camp,” says Mr H. Valder, New Zealand district governor of Rotary, in a letter to the League. “ I congratulate your executive on the excellent results obtained and if the subscribers to your fund get as much satisfaction as I have done out of the investment they will feel that their subscription to your League will be one of the last things on which they would economise." Donations and offers of assistance will be gratefully received by Mrs H. G. Ross, secretary of the League, and Mr W. H. Paul, chairman. Application forms for children desirous of going to camp this year ara obtainable at the Winter Show OfflcaJ The camp is being held from December 29 to January 14. j
