CHILDREN AND SEX.
ADDRESS TO MOTHERS. “ Under ideal conditions sex instruclion should never have to be given. If a child is allowed to grow up In the right surroundings his knowledge of sex will come inadvertently, as his knowledge of digestion and cleanliness and other matters of health comes to him.” The view was expressed recently by Mr D. Ward Cutler, dlreclor of the Rothampstead Experimental Station, in an address to Mayfair mothers at the May Fair Hold, London. He said: A child should be allowed to keep animals, and by watching llieir habits the way is opened to a natural approach to the subject of sex. Always tell a child the truth. 11 is useless for -a parent to take a child on a Saturday afternoon, say. and whisper In il. ”1 want, to have half an hour's talk with you.” The parent is obviously embarrassed, and the child becomes embarrassed. This is fatal. There was no reason why a parent should become all hot and bothered as soon as lie or she approached 1 liis problem.
