LEAMINGTON AFFAIRS.
MEETING OF TOWN BOARD. S GENERAL BUSINESS. The monthly meeting of the Leamitiglon Town Board was hold on Thursday afternoon, the chairman, Mr T. A. Hicks, presiding. The cutting down of the Burns Street Hill was discussed, and il was decided to carry out the scheme as soon as suitable unemployed labour was available. The secretary. Cambridge Unemployment Committee, wrote requesting a further contribution of £1 10s towards the expenses of the branch.— The request was agreed to. The balance-sheet showed a debit of £223 9s 2d. Accounts totalling £IG9 12s were passed for payment. The chairman was appointed to arrange for the eradication of ragwort from the board's streets. Domain Board. The same members sat as members of the Domain Board. Dir T. A. Illcks said lie had interviewed the Mayor of Cambridge in an effort to reduce the board's water rate, but had been informed that, no reduction could lie made.
The Power Hoard offered to instal nil electric water system at a total cost of £O2 10s and annual rental of £5. or £9 for a larger supply.—lt was decided to hold a special meeting to go into the matter. The minutes of a special meeting were read, which slated that representatives of the Immain Board and the Cambridge Hairy Company had met, at which the board had granted tins dairy company a permit to run a pipe line from tlie Leamington factory to ttic Waikato River, and that an equal exchange of land or the value thereof at no cost to the hoard lie also made. — It was decided that an area of two acres he leased to llie company at a rental of about £ll per acre.
