Record Year Despite Depression.
—“ The Wellington Competitions Society 'had Its record year at the lowest ebb "of the depression. I say the lowest ebb because the depression Is now lifting,” .said Mr H. iA. Huggins at the annual meeting of the society. The treasurer said that 18/855 people had paid for admission to the festival, and allowing for 3000 visits by season tloket holders, the number of attendances was Ui/SSS —a record. The number of entries totalled 3535, as compared with the record set up In 1931, 3099, an Increase of 436, and a record for the past 15 years. A profit of £144 was made.
