Hannon (Conservative — Moseley, Birmingham) that Empire goods on the optional bills of lading transhipped at foreign ports are not entitled to preference on landing in Britain. Mr Hannon suggested a discussion with importers with a view to modifying the law to meet cases where .the goods are not entered as foreign country’s commerce. Mr More Belisha undertook to confer with Mr Hannon. Mr Ilore Belisha’s statement embraces such cases as the Slassfurt’s shipment of oranges on which full duty has been charged, thus neutralising the effect of good sales on tha Continent.
