MATAMATA TOWN BOARD
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. At the fortnightly meeting of the Matamata Town Board Mr W. A. Gordon presided. A letter was received from the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Co. stating that the question of constructing a pipe-line to the Waharoa factory would ho placed before the farmers interested shortly. Tho Hamilton Borough Council advised that the Board’s share of the refund from the heavy traffic pool was £-i 1 13s 10Jd. The application of the Fire Brigade for remission of hire of the Town Hall was granted. In reference to applications from the St. John Ambulance Brigade and the Matamata Old Pupils’ Association for a reduction in rental of the hall, .it was decided to charge both associations half fees. Building permits to the amount of £368 10s were granted. An enquiry as to the Board’s attt- 1 tude to the building of a billiard ! saloon in Ihe plantation alongside the railway entrance elicited strong opposition ‘to the proposal.
