BIG CRICKET.

THE ENGLISH TEAM. AUSTRALIAN XI. MATCH. GAME COMMENCES TO-MORROW. The English cricket team’s next match will be against an Australian eleven at Melbourne, commencing on Friday and continuing on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. The game will be followed with the greatest interest, as it should give a good indication of how the teams will shape in the first test match, which commences at Sydney on December 2. The English team has not been announced yet, but it is sure to be a very strong one to contend with the team that will represent Australia. The Australian eleven as first selected w r as: W. M. Woodfull, W. H. Ponsford, D. G. Bradman, A. F. Kippax, S. J. McCabe, L. Darling, W. A. Oldfield, R. K. Oxenham, P. IT. Lee, L. Nash, and 11. Ironmonger, with K. E. Rigg as twelfth man; but as neither ITippax, McCabe nor Ponsford can play, Rigg, J. E. Nagel and L. P. O'Brien have been included. The team as first selected was undoubtedly stronger than the .one that will now take the field, but, as in the first team, Darling was the only member who has not previously been in a test team, the reaarrangement should be helpful to the test selectors to finalise the last two players for the test match. The home side Is, however, still a strong combination, and an indication of how the tests will go should at least be gathered from the match.
