DISPUTE SETTLED.
LANCASHIRE SPINNERS. COMPROMISE REACHED. ' (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Oct. 24. The dispute in the spinning section of the Lancashire cotton industry jhas been settled. The terms of the settlement provide for a -wages reduction of Is 6§d in the pound and the restoration of a 48 hours week. Further negotiations are being undertaken on the means of securing a maximum output. A conciliation commi.tteo is to be set up which will include representatives of both sides, independent members and an independent chairman. The terms represent a oom.promise which was achieved largely through the efforts of Mr F. W. Leggett, Labour Ministry conciliation officer. The- agreement, It is olalmed, will secure higher protection for the employer and In consequence better wages for the worker in spite of the out, while the new conciliation machinery should ensure the avoidance of further disputes.
