theft charge fails. GUILTY OF RECEIVING. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Charged with the theft of jewellery and money of a value of £221 10s, George Henry Bennett Morgan, motor mechanic, aged 31, appeared In -the Supreme Court yesterday. The property, which Included a platinum diamond-studded watch, a pair of diamond ear-rings and money, was alleged to have been stolen from the dwelling house of Matilda Townsend on May 12, 1931. There was an alternative charge of receiving the ear-rings knowing that they were stolen. After a retirement of ten minutes tho jury returned a verdict of guilty of receiving and not guilty on the other count. The prisoner was remanded for sentence.
