AT FRANKTON YARDS. BEEF QUOTATIONS FIRM. A RISE IN SHEEP PRICES. Ox beef was yarded in large numbers at the weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards yesterday and with a steady demand last week’s values ruled. Cow and .heifer beef was panned in medium numbers and quotations showed no alteration. There was a short market of sheep, with, a consequent Arming of prices, while the large number of pigs yarded sold up to last week’s prices. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Ltd., report:—At the weekly stock sale In the Frankton yards on Tuesday, we had only a small yarding of sheep, and the market improved slighlty on late rates. Hoggets were again Arm. Cattle: Only a medium yarding of ox beef, with no alteration on late rates. Cow beef came forward in smaller numbers, but this did not affect the demand and prices were easier on late rates. There was a heavy yarding of store cattle, comprising mostly yearling heifers. These did not command as much attention as previously, but in many cases vendors met the market. Pigs: There was an extra heavy yarding of fat pigs and an average yarding of stores and weaners. Prices for fats and stores were slightly easier. Quotations: — Sheep: Prime fat wethers, 13s Id to 13s 6d; medium fat wethers, 11s to 11s 9d; lighter fat wethers, 10s to 10s 6d; heavy fat hoggets, 13s to 13s 6d; lighter, 11s 3d to 12s; heavy fat ewes, 8s to 8s 9d; lighter fat ewes, 6s lid to 7s 6d.

Cattle: Runners, 30s to 325; vealers, 9s to 13s; medium fat steers, £6 12s to £7; lighter, £5 3s to £5 14s; medium fat heifers, £4 12s 6d to £4 18s; medium fat cow?, £4 5s to £4 11s; lighter fat cows and heifers, £3 5s to £3 15s; fresh conditioned cows, 30s to 355; boner cows, 12s to 20s; three-year Shorthorn cross steers, £2 10s to"£2 17s Gd; one and a-half year to two-year Shorthorn cross steers, 27s Gd to 30s; choice yearling Jersey heifers, £3 10s to £3 15s; yearling Jersey cross heifers, £2 10s to £2 15s; smaller yearling Jersey and Jersey cross heifers, 35s to £2 ss; one-year grade bulls, £2 JOs to £4 12s Gd. Dalgety and Company, Ltd. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton yesterday, as under: Fat Sheep.—There was a moderate yarding and prices generally were on a par with last week’s rates. Fat woolly wethers, 1 -is to 15s 6d; fat shorn wethers, 11s 3d to 13s; fat shorn ewes, 7s 3d lo 8s Dd; fat woolly hoggets, Us to Ms. There was a fair yarding of spring lambs. Best heavy made to Ills Gd; medium weight, ditto, 12s Gd lo 14s; light and unllnlshcd, 7s lo tls. Fat Cattle. —A fair yarding. Prices were on a par with last week, but the quality this week was not so good. Medium weight bullocks made £G 15s to 117 ss; small fat steers, £4 12s to £3 Os; choice quality heifers and young cows. £4 5s to £5; fat cows, £2 to £3 15s.

Store Cattle. —A large yarding, including a large number of yearling Jersey heifers, for which there was a very weak demand, and prices were lower. We sold grown rough steers, £2 17s: store cows, 25s to 355; boner cows, 5s to Ms; two-year-old Ayrshire cross steers, 27s Gd; yearlings, 13s; Yearling Jersey bulls, £2 10s to '£3 12s Gd.

Pigs.—There was a heavy yarding of fat pigs, which sold at a par with last week’s rates. Store pigs were yarded in large numbers, and sold at slightly easier rates than last week. We quote;—Best baconers, £2 to £2 -Is; medium baconers, 35s to 38s; light baconers, 30s to 345: porkers, best 25s to 27s Gd: light, 18s to 22s Gd; good stores, 20s to 235; small, ISs; slips, 15s to 17s Gd; best wcaners, 12s Gd to 15s; others, 10s to 12s.

N.Z. Loan and Mercantile. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report on yesterday’s Frankton stock sale as follows: — Cattle. —Our entry of o\ beef was a smaller one than usual, hut of good quality. Values declined a shade on late rates. Fat cattle prices were, barely maintained on a medium entry. The store cattle offered included several pons of yearling heifers, which changed hands at late market values. Sheep.—The prices realised for a small yarding of all classes of sheep showed a very appreciable Improvement, the increase being principally due to the short supply. A small pen of very prime hoggets sold on behalf of Mr E. H. Jull, senior, of Te Rapa, were purchased by Messrs. Crosby Brothers for 18s 6d each; prime wethers made 12s to 13s 7d; medium quality, 10s 6d to 11s Gd; lighter, up to 10s; prime aged ewes, 7s 6d to 8s 6d; medium ditto, 6s 9d to 7s 6d; light ditto, to 6s 6d; very prime hoggets, 16s to 18s; prime ditto, 13s to las’ed; lighter ditto,. 11s to 12s 6d; prime lambs, 13s to 15s 6d; medium ditto, 11s to 12s 6d; lighter ditto, 10s to 11s. Pigs.—For all classes of pigs values declined slightly. There was a full yarding of fat pigs and a medium entry of stores and weaners. Prime baconers, £2 to £2 4s; medium ditto, £1 15s to £1 18s; light ditto, £1 10s to £1 14s; heavy porkers, £1 5s to £1 7s 6d; light ditto, 18s to £1 3s; good stores, £1 to £1 ss; small ditto, 15s to 18s; large weaners, 12s Gd to 15s; inferior, 10s to 12s.

G. W. Vercoe and Company. Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton yesterday, when an average yarding of ox and a small yarding of cow beef came forward, and sold at rates about equal to those of last week. Heavy fat bullocks sold from £7 12s 6d to £8 Is; lighter, £6 10s to £7 10s; light, £5 10s to £6; unAnished, £4 5s to £5; heavy fat cows, £5 to £5 10s; lighter, £4 to £4 15s; light, £2 10s to £3 10s; heavy fat heifers, £5 to £5 15s; lighter, £3 15s to £4 10s; light, £2 to £3 10s; runners, £2 10s to £3; vealers, 17s 6d to 30s. A heavy yarding of store cattle met with a Slow market, and prices were easier. The advertised line of 350 yearling Jersey heifers did not meet with as keen a competition as was anticipated, and with the exception of two pens, failed to reach the owner’s reserve and were passed in. Good quality yearling Jersey heifers, sold from £3 7s 6d to £3 16s; store cows, 27s to 355; poorer sorts, £1 to 265; boner cows, 13s to 19s. Sheep: Fat sheep were penned in small numbers and resulted in the whole yarding selling under keen demand. Prime woolly wethers sold up to 15s 6d; fat wethers (shorn), 11s to 11s 6d; light fat wethers (shorn), 10s 6d to 10s lOd; prime fat ewes, 10s to 10s Gd; fat hoggets, 12s to 14s 7d; ewe hoggets to 10s 7d; heavy fat lambs, 13s to 14s; lighter, 10s to 12s 6d; unAnished, 8s 9d to 9s 6d. Pigs: A heavy entry of fat and store pigs slightly decreased in value.
