BOROUGH COUNCIL.
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. GENERAL BUSINESS. The Mayor, Dr. F. D. Pinfold, presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Borough Council last evening. Also present were the Deputy-Mayor Cr. A. J. Denz, Councillors C. J. W. Barton, W. Bourne, H. D. Caro, F. H. Clapham, W. W. Dillicar, F. J. Farrell, H. M. Hammond, C. Lafferty, Carrlck Nisbet and S. V. Tyler, and Messrs W. L. Waddel, town clerk, R„ Worley, engineer, and I. Webster, electrical engineer. The following general business was dealt with: — The Hamilton West School Committee’s request that the council turf the batters of the school playing ground was referred to the works committee. The action of the engineer in dispensing with the services of certain men, under the circumstances explained to the council was approved. A taxi-driver intimated that information had reached him that a taxicab company was applying to the council to allow its various drivers to use each other’s stands. He wished to disassociate himself from the proposal, which he considered undesirable. The letter was received. Milk Regulations. The Hamilton Milk Vendors’ Association advised that it could not agree lo the milk control proposals as laid down by the council as it considered them too stringent. At a coming meeting of the association it was expected to make final a proposal for a simple compulsory form of supervision to ba hardened later, lo the council. The letter was received.
