MATAMATA TOWN BOARD.
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. At the fortnightly meeting of the Board Air J. Buchanan presided. The Matamata County Council wrote agreeing to pay up to £2 for the cost of Installing soak pit on Waharoa Road East. The Council stated that a complaint had been received that the raising of the footpath on Waharoa Road would result in turning considerably more water on to private property. ■Alembers stated that the sinking of the new soak pit would obviate the nuisance. The Under-Secretary of Lands and Survey advised that his Department would not raise any objection to the St. John Ambulance Brigade being granted a permit to build on the Library reserve. The Auckland Patriotic Association forwarded £25 for disbursement to lit neeessitious soldiers and stated that the War Funds’ Council was desirous that part of the money should be spent on a subsidy basis. The chairman stated that, he now held a sum of £7S for distribution.
