FRANKTON SALEYARDS.
(To the Editor.) Sip,—Until the present time I have made no statement re the petition to close the Frankton .central sale yards, as I consider the matter is solely in the hands of the ratepayers of Hamilton. - ■ The yards-were erected toy monr subscribed mainly by the Hamilton people, as few' shares were taken up by the farmers. These townsmen realised the asset the yards would be to the town. If, after the yards were erected, sections were bought and built upon at Maeroa, etc., these sections must have been bought with a knowledge that the yards were there. Every town worth the name of a town •must have an industrial district, so with the 'dairy factory, the box factory and the central sale yards, I fail to-see how this area oan. be called residential. }l understand the borough council is meeting the petitioners on Wednesday night, and I think the matter can safely bo 'left to their business ability—l am, eto., ' OWEN-M. MONCKTON. Chairman Central Sale Yards Company. August 2, 1932.
