ARAPUNI WORKS.
Seepage in headrace. DIVERSION GATES OPENED. TROUBLE NOT SERIOUS. Seepage of water has occurred In the sides of the headrdoe at Arapuni and the diversion tunnel has boon opened to lower the level of the water In the "raoe" to permit of a full Investigation to be made. Advice was received in Hamilton today that leaks had developed In the floor of the headrace and that a “fair amount” of water was percolating through. The diversion tunnel had been opened to enable the bed of the “race” to be examined. This was being done as a precautionary measure. When referred to Mr T. Rabone, engineer in charge, at Arapuni, he told a Waikato Times reporter that the trouble was by no means as serious as represented. “The station is still in service, and I see no prospect of it going out,” he stated emphatically. “A little seepage has occurred in the sides of the headrace and the diversion tunnel has —jiy been opened in connection with the J Investigation to be carried out,” he
