At a private conference between the Minister of Agricudturc and representatives of various sections of the dairying industry the proposal of the director of dairying (Mr L. T. Maclnnes) to eliminate “first grade” was endorsed, and this will be -embodied in early legislation to amend tho Dairy Industry Act. Accordingly, as soon as the statutory powers are obtained the Stale will -only grade butter as choicest, second grade, and pastry respectively. The proposal is that all butters 92 points and over shall be “Choicest,” as at present, and those from 89 to 91' points classed as “-second grade.” This, of course, will not apply to butter exported, which will be graded by the Commonwealth officers In accordance with the existing schedule—unless amended. The local objection to “first grade" is that it is anomalous and misleading to some consumers, who are Inclined to regard it as the best and to he charged top price for it. Retailers will be required under the Act to mark “choicest" and “second grade" distinctly on all packages offered for sale, so that the public will know the quality they buy. Tt is expected, too, that a result will be to Induce some factories -to be more rigid in cream gaadlng to attain choicest points. No surer remedy for Colds, ’Flu, etc. Nazol 1/6 bottle.
