THIEF DISTURBED.
FOUND RAIDING THE TILL. CAPTURED BY PASSER-BY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday, s A woman who was in charge of a fruit and confectionery shop In Cambridge Terrace, hearing a noise in the shop, stepped from a room and saw a man raiding the till. Finding that he was discovered the man made for the door. The woman screamed loudly, and her cries drew a large crowd, some leaving the trams to satisfy their curiosity. i The first passer-by who heard the screams met the man hastily making his exit, and prevented him from leaving. The thief was taken back Into the shop, and at the instigation of the shopkeeper was searched and forced to hand over a sum of money. Then, with the greatest nonchalance, he pushed his way through and leisurely strolled up the street.
