RUSSIAN FOOD SUPPLIES.

SITUATION GRAVE.

SUGAR BEET CROP FAILS

United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received July 18, 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 17.

The Sunday Times’ Moscow correspondent states that grain and other agricultural exports have been seriously reduced, and only further credits will prevent the drastic curtailment of purchases of foreign machinery and equipment. The food situation is grave, and there has been a serious collapse in the Kiev and Vinitza regions, where the truth was hidden until the sowing was half over. The sugar beet crop has failed, and there is an extreme shortage of bread and everything to eat on the Volga.
