PLANES DAMAGED
ACCIDENT AFTER LANDING. PILOT ESCAPES WITH SCRATCHES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) LEVIN, Monday. A monoplane, constructed by Mr Marlin Butler, was badly damaged after ils first flight at Waitarere Beach. Butler successfully llew the machine in the afternoon, remaining up about twenty minutes, turning and banking perfectly. immediately after landing the 'plane struck a soft patch In the sand. Tito landing gear doubled up, causing illo tip of the 'plane to strike the beach, breaking the blade of the propeller and extensively damaging the carriage work of the body. The pilot escaped with a few scratches.

The rest of llie ’plane was not damaged. A passenger. Miss M. Gibson, was not injured. Flying-ameer .1. It. Richardson suffered slight abrasions.
