SMALL FARM PLAN

AN INTERESTING ADDRESS. UNIQUE SHAREMILKING SCHEME. The small-farm plan and smallfarrr. sharemilking agreement formed a topic for interesting discussion at Ngahinapouri, the speaker being Mr G. B. Melrose, Government district organiser for Waipa and Kawhia. Mr Neil Reid presided. Mr Melrose was accorded an attentive hearing, and at the conclusion of the meeting a vote of thanks for his enlightening address was carried unanimously.

In referring to the small-farm sharemilking agreement, the speaker explained that it provided for the erection of a cottage, cow-sheds and other outbuildings on a farm, the farmer undertaking to employ a registered unemployed married man at a minimum wage of £2 a week. The Government would erect the cottage at a cost of £l7O, and a cow-shed for £BO. If the farmer so desired he could erect the cottage and cowshed himself.

Ail farmers present voiced appreciation of the sharemilking scheme, and assured Mr Melrose that they would further the scheme in their respective districts.
