EUROPEAN CONCLAVES

FAVOURABLE RESULTS. HOPE FOR DISARMAMENT. EFFECT ON STOCK MARKET. (Official Wireless.) (Received June 20, 10.45 a.m.) RUGBY, June 18. Sir John Simon (Foreign Minister), has returned to Geneva from Lausanne and will probably remain there for some days, during which time the Disarmament Conference, it is hoped, will register definite progress, which will be helpful towards tne general situation. No meetings will take place at Lausanne to-day or to-morrow, although there will be numerous private conversations. The report of the favourable developments at Lausanne affected the London stock market during the weekend. The general tone has been firm, this particular influence also caused a sharp rise in German loans yesterday, the average rate of discount at which three months’ Treasury bills were allotted yesterday constitutes a postwar record.
