CYCLE ROAD RACING.
HAMILTON AMATEUR CLUB 22-IYIILE EVENT. A particularly fine performance by R. Tasker was the feature of the Hamilton Amateur Cycle Club's event on Saturday afternoon, decided over a course of twenty-two miles from Ngaruawahla to Whatawhata and bade. There was a good field of riders and despite unfavourable weather conditions. some fine performances were registered. The limit men had a good start on the scratch riders, the competitors all the way out being led by Cairns, Barnett and Hyde, who were away about six minutes before Tasker, who was off scratch. When riding well, about half a mile from the commencement, C. Bull was unfortunate to meet with a mishap to his machine, and had to drop out. Norman gave up on the turn for home and Tasker, followed closely by Hampton, '.sot out to catch the limit men. The former rider mistook a turning and lost a lot of ground, but sped tip and secured the lead brilliantly to win from Cairns by half a wheel with a similar distance between second and third. The race resulted— R. Tasker (35secs) 66m 33s 1 J. Cairns (7m) 66m 33 2-5 s 2 •R. Hyde (5m 30s) 66m 33 3-5 s 3 Fastest time was recorded by R. Tasker, who covered the distance in 60min Bsecs.
