ROCKY DOWNS. - The first of the two qualifying rounds resulted as follows (the best eight scores play for the senior championship, Avhile the best eight Avith handicaps of 20 and over ■ play junior) : Senior.—Keeley 83, Little 88, Corbett 90, Barkman 94, Thomson 95, Mentiplay 96, Carruthers junr. 98, Cottle, E. Johnston and Bluck 104, tie for eighth place. Junior.—Barkman 94, Thomson 95, Mentiplay 96, Carruthers junr. 98, Cottle, E. Johnston and Bluck 104, Dods 10.5, Sherwin 107, Wayte, Carruthers, senr., Woodhouse, all 108, tie for eighth place. The second round Avill be played next Saturday, in conjunction Avith an 18-hole medal handicap. The draAV for partners is:—Little v. Corbett, Keeley v. Mentiplay, Wallace v.- Thomson, Carruthers Junr, v. Wayte, E. Johnston v. Kibble white, Bluck a*. Cottle, Barkman v. Carruthers senr., Keane v. N. Johnston,-Woodhouse v. Sherwin, Dods v. Darragh, Ferguson v. Casey, Lambourne v. Cumings. An 18-hole, bogey match resulted in a Avin for Mrs L. Little, <5 down, with Mrs A. Thomson, 4 down, next. The contest for the Moore-Jones Shield proved a runaway victory for \ Wallace and N. Johnston, Avhose score of 2 up was the best recorded yet in this competition. The ladies' compel ition was more even, Mrs Keane and Mrs I,it,tie, 6 down, Avinning from Mrs keeley ami Miss Darragh, 7 down.
CAMBRIDGE LADIES’ CLUB. Unpleasant conditions faced competitors in the Cambridge Ladies’ Club ,june bogey match on Wednesday. Nearly thirty members took part. The best cards handed in were:— Seniors. —Mrs Freeman, 2 up; Miss Thompson, 1 up. .Hiniors. —Mrs Ambury, 2 up; Miss Hewitt, 2 down. During the afternoon the opportunity was taken to farewell Mrs It. Burke, who is shortly leaving the district for To Awamutu. Mrs Burke was the recipient of an appropriate gift.
