AUCKLAND, Saturday. lij the professional boxing oontest between Tommy Mclnnes and Jim Broadfoot last evening, Broadfoot retired after the sixth round owing to Ihe pain he was suffering from an injured ear. Up to that point the bout had been fast and interesting. Amateur Bouts. Welter-weight. —A. Blewden, 10.10, beat J. Bakolich, 10.7. Feather-weight.— C. Smith, 9.2, knocked out N. Way, 9.2*, early in (he flrst round. Bantam-weight, -J. MoLaughlan, S.G, drew with R. Andrews, 8,0. Heavy-weight.—L. Painter (New Zealand champion) 12.5, beat C. Farmer (Te Aroha), 11.3, on a technical knock-out. Farmer went down in the third from a right cross, and was resting, but he was too late up and was counted out. The bout up till then had been even. Special Challenge Bout.—D. Gordon, 9.4, beat J. Roper (Taumarunui), 9.6. THOMPSON BEATS COSSILL. HASTINGS, Friday. In the best contest seen in Hastings, for years Cyril Thompson (Hastings) defeated Jack Cossill (Palmerston North) on points in a professional contest of 15 rounds.
