THE OPENING LECTUREB. PROCESS OF PLANT LIFE The opening lectures of the Waikato Winter Farm School were oonducted yesterday afternoon, when 51 students were In attendance. The first lecture of the afternoor was that of Dr. H. E. Annett, on the simple process of plant life, the lecturer describing in Interesting detail how plants feed: Dr. Annett's address was the first of a series on grassland management. Mr D. Marshall, M.R.C.V..5., dealt with different feeds and mineral deficiencies generally. FURTHER LECTURES GIVEN. STUDENTS’ COMMITTEE. ELECTED. Lectures at the Winter Farm School'were given this morning by Sj Dr. H, -E. Annett, on grassland man- " agement, and.Mr H. M. Peirson on pighusbandry, reports of which will appear later. To provide an avenue of communication between the students of the school and the director, Dr. Annett, and to maintain discipline in the camp, the following committee has been elected from the students: Messrs A. N. Brown, Murchison, chairman; V. Dyer, Onewhero; V. Hewitt, Waihoa; J. R. Jaggard, Kaipara Flats; L. Knowles, Toko, Taranaki; and W. Turner, Te Puke. Through the kindness of a local dealer the students have been provided with a radio set in their quarters. On the evening.of the concluding day (Friday) the students will be entertained to a dance, promoted by the staff of the New Zealand Co-opera-_ live Herd Testing Association.
