Ryan, Ellerslie. , J . Royal Survey was most in demand with £431 from Lord Val (£402), 'Cotch’em (£392) and Princess Star (£347). Royal Gallant, whose return wag in the vicinity of a score was eleventh in request with £ll4. When they settled down Royal Gallant had charge from Lady Spy and Grand Spirit. Royal Gallant led across the top with Lady Spy, Princess Star, On Approval, Dark Marble, Beacon Fire and Princess Bede in "that order. Royal Gallant and Princess Star were the first into the straight from Dark Marble, Lord Val, Lady Spy,'Beacon Fire, and Princess Bede. Royal Gallant rvon by a neck from Princess Bede who beat Beacon Fire by three-quarters of a length. Lady Spy was fourth and then came Dark •Marble, Grand Spirit, Glenrata, Princess Star, Searcher, Radiant Sun, Ruling King and Catch’em. Time, 1.30. • The winner w r as always well placed Vnd ran the journey out solidly. Princess Bede finished fast on the rails, 'and better placed earlier, would have 'been very difficult to defeat. Beacon 'Fire and Lady Spy were always in the picture. Lord Val was unlucky in the running in the concluding stages of the race w r hen holding a good position. Dark Marble made a good showing. Winner trained by owner, Cambridge. Nassock w*as an odds-on favourite with £1334, the next best supported being Monetize (£685) and Apache .(£595). Nassock led up the hill the first time from Monetize, Carlaris, Apache, Jen and Dominican. Monetize took charge on the hill top and was well clear over the stand double where Apache, Carflaris, Jen, Nassock and Dominican were in that order. Over the hilltop double the last time Monetize was the pilot with Carlaris, Nassock, Apache, Jen and Dominican racing as named. Monetize cleared the last fence in front of Carlaris and Nassock. Nassock got up to get the verdict by a neck from Monetize who beat Carlaris by one and a-quarter lengths. Apache was fourth and then 'some way back came Dominican and 'Jen. Time 5.14.

Woodfull was an odds-on favourite with £1541 from Gay Court (£679) and Senesohal (£457), Puss Moth being fifth in demand with £3^ •Puss Moth led along the back with Woodfull, Miss Albyn, Teels, Irish Chieftain, and Seneschal in that order of the others. Puss Moth led across the top from Woodfull, Mailkill, Last Lap, Seneschal, Irish Chieftain and Echo Song. Puss Moth had charge into the straight and came on to win by four lengths from Seneschal who was three-quarters of a length in front of Jrish Chieftain. Valueless was fourth and then came Alpina, Echo Song, Last Lap, Black Marlin, Woodfull and Miss Albyn. Time 1-29 3-5. The winner’s return was close to double figures. Puss Moth, beginning smartly from the rails, was ahvays in charge. He drew right away from the field at the finish and is particularly promising. Seneschal and Irish Chieftain were always fairly handy and finished on well. Valueless was travelling fast over the final stages and will do better. Alpina came with a late run to be fifth. Fernden commanded major attention, going out with £B4O on his chances, Full Measure (£753) and Cruachan .(£607) being next best supported. * Arcade was twelfth fancy with £139. . High Commissioner and Patutahl fell at the second fence, while Cruachan lost his rider at the third in front of the bird-cage. Arch Eagle was then in charge showing the way up the back to Fernden, Full Measure, Cargen, Biform, Appledore, Arcade and I Sports King. Biform fell at the third last fence. Full Measure showed the way into the ’Straight to Arch Eagle, Fernden, Appledore, Arcade and Sports King. Arcade won by five lengths from Full Measure, who was five lengths in front of Fernden. Appledore was fourth followed by Arc-h Eagle, Sports T «*pg, Cargen, St. Ames, Taramoa, and Nell. Time 3.20. Sound Jumping and staying ability stood t,o the winner who was confidently handled. Arcade was a gift horse to his present owner. His followers were rewarded with a return bordering on the quarter century today. Full Measure and Fernden made a good showing but tired. Winner trained by T. R. George, Blenheim. The Make Up—Landmark bracket was most in demand with £962 from Luminary (£711) and the Standfast— Claremore bracket (£707). Standfast had charge early from Paddon, Luminary, Lucess, Paris, Make Up and Advance Camp. Calla•mart fell at the first fence along the hack, -while Standfast came to grief at the next, bringing down Advance Camp, while Paddon was Interfered with. Passing the stands the second time, 'High Pitch and Luminary werej showing the way to Make Up, Lucess, Paris, Full Mark, Nukumai, Claremore, Easterly, Balloon and Paddon. Easterly fell at the fence in front of the birdcage where Paddon baulked. Full Mark joined High Pitch in the lead along the back and across the lop, the pair was followed by Make Up, Landmark, Nukumai, Luminary, Lucess, Claremore and Balloon (who pulled up later) with Paris well last. Make Up was first to the last fence with Full Mark, Landmark and High Pitch in close attendance. Landmark won by a neck from his stable companion, Make Up, who was four lengths in front of Full Mark. High r'llch was fourth and then came Claremore, Nukumai, Luminary, Lucess and Paris. Time 4.51. Landmark and Make Up had the finish to themselves. Both horses jumped splendidly throughout the trip and showed superior staying powerFull Mark went a creditable race, showing blemish in his Jumping. High Pitch’s performance was good and he should he greatly Improved by the race. Luminary was prominent for over a mile, but failed to respond when the pressure was applied. When the field settled down Protoimint was the pilot and showed the way along the back to King’s Archer, Imamint, Jalldy Karo, Sunny Sky, Vandyke, Little Doubt and Bronze Tray. Half a mile from home Protomint was still in charge from King s Archer, Imamint, Jalldy Karo, Sunny Sky and Little Doubt. Protomint led Into the straight with Sunny Sky, Little Doubt, King’s Archer and Jalldy Karo the handiest Of the others. Sunny Sky won by half a length from Protomint who beat Little Doubt by two and a-half lengths. Historic was fourth and then came True Shaft, Gay Idea, Gay Cockade, Jalldy Karo, Good Idea and Bronze Tray. Time 2.9 3-5. The win was aohieved in good style. Protomint’s effort was the surprise of the race. Little Doubt' challenged strongly in the straight but had no chance with the other pair. Historic was finishing on well. HUNT CLUB HURDLES.
