RAID IN AUCKLAND.
HEAVILY BARRICADED PREMISES. TWO CHINESE ARRESTED. AUCKLAND, Thursday. A party of deteotives and police paid a visit to premises in Grey’s Avenue, last evening and two Chinese occupants (Ah Sin and Fong Ark) were arrested on charges of being found in possession of prepared opium and of permitting opium smoking on the premises. The doors and windows wore found to be heavily barricaded, and it was necessary to break through a partition with crowbars. ACCUSED BEFORE COURT. IMPRISONMENT AND FINES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. Two Chinese who were arrested in last night's raid ’were brought before the Court this morning. Ah Sin (45) was fined £IOO, or three months’ imprisonment; also three months’ imprisonment for being unlawfully found on premises used for the smoking of opium, the sentences to be concurrent. Fong Ark was fined £SO, or three months’ imprisonment, for being unlawful.’y found on premises for the smoking of opium.
