DEBATING.

ST. MARY’S CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The first annual meeting of the SL Mary’s Debating Club attracted a good attendance of members. The president, Rev. Bro. Clemens, who presided, in reviewing the past year’s activities, remarked on the very sound position of the club, both in membership and finance. The reading of the annual report and balancesheet emphasised the chairman’* statement.

Following were the officers elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Rev. Father Bleakley; president, Rev. Bro. Clemens; vice-presidents, Rev. Father O’Gorman, Rev. Bro. Vigilius and Mr C. E. Cuming; secretary, Mr J. P. Quill; committee. Rev. Father O’Gorman and Messrs W. A. Gwynne and P. R. Cuming. The first debate of the season will be held on May 24.
