ALLEGED GAMING.
STOREKEEPER CHARGED. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. George Turton, aged 54, storekeeper, was charged in the Police Court yesterday with keeping premises in Panmure Road as a common gaming house. Accused was remanded until Thursday. Bail of £SO was renewed. CHINESE FINED £75. GAMING AND OPIUM SMOKING. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. In the Police Court yesterday Fong Tom, aged 56, laundryman and gardener, admitted keeping a common gaming house and having had in his possession prepared opium and a pipe -used for Ihe stroking of opium. 'l’lie Magistrate lined Fong Tom £SO for keeping a common gaming house and £25, the minimum penalty provided by law for having prepared opium in his possession. Default was fixed at three months’ imprisonment in each ease. Pleas of guilty were entered by two bakers, Charles Alexander Grant, aged 56, and Cecil William Marsh, aged 34, who were charged with being found without lawful excuse in a common gaming house.
