SUICIDE AT AUCKLAND.
PATHETIC NOTE LEFT. >*NOT UNDERSTOOD, NOT WANTED” AUCKLAND, Tuesday. ■At the inquest yesterday afternoon concerning the death of Charles John Carter, aged 49, labourer, who was found dead in his room at a city boardinghouse on Sunday morning. Constable Solly said when he arrived at the boardinghouse he found deceased, who had a deep wound in his left arm, lying on a bed. Death had ■occurred some time previously. The wound appeared to have been self-in-flicted with a razor which was on the floor. On a table In the room witness found a small piece of paper on which •was written in pencil the following:— “Not understood and not wanted.— Jerry Carter.” Evidence by other witnesses stated that deceased was of a cheerful-dis-position and never gave any indication of Intention to take his life. He ■had been unemployed since February. The coroner returned a verdict of •ulcide.
