OLD CARS AND NEW.
CONTROVERSY AT HOME.
Many correspondents of an English motoring Journal have been contending for some time that cars built during the last few years wre Inferior to earlier models. This contention, however, is not subscribed to by an English authority, who penned the following views on the subject:—‘l have been making frequent visits to factories for the past 27 years, and I say that the manufacture of motorcars to-day is a highly developed science, employing methods, machinery and materials which are infinitely better than they were 10 years ago, and still a vast improvement on those of only five years ago. This faith in old cars is a fetish which would be instantly destroyed by practical experience. I think that some of those who have contributed to this controversy would never have done so had they visited the factories of the cars they champion five years ago and again to-day. They would also have learned that lowering cost of production is closely allied with Improving the quality of the product.”
