WEDDING

MORRIS—SHAW.

Attractively decorated in autumn colourings, St. Mary’s Church, New Plymouth, was very beautiful on Wednesday afternoon when Olivia Wakefield, the only daughter of Mrs S. W. Shaw, "Whare-ra," Gover Street, New Plymouth, .was married to Daniel Stewart, the only son of Mrs A. Morris, Palmerston North. The chancel was arranged with quantities of chrysanthemums, dahlias and marigolds, solt pastel shades to deep crimson, with scarlet autumn foliage, and formed a very vivid background for the soflly shaded frocks of the wedding party The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr Eric Shaw, wore a gown of pale magnolia shaded French lace of delicate fineness, which fell becomingly in graceful lines to the ankles. Th 3 bodice, which was close fitting, had a V-cut decolletage and long sleeves, slightly ruched at the wrist. The skirt was fashioned in twj tiers, each edged with narrow kilting, matching the three rows of kilted frills which trimmed the bodice. A quaint touch was added by a bracelet of orange blossom buds worn on the left wrist and a spray of the same blossoms at the neckline. A veil of net in the same faint shade formed a long sweeping train and was worn with a small coronet of orange blossom; her bouquet was arranged to form a shower, with chrysanthemums, freesias and autumn leaves. Miss Ethel Hammond, Hamilton, and Miss Barbara Humphreys, New Plymouth, attended as bridesmaids, both wearing parchment shaded frocks in georgette, simply made with slim-flt-ting bodices and full long skirt.s, trimmed with deep scallopings of little ruched frills. With these were worn apple-green chiffon velvet jackets, and their felt hats of the same tonings as the frocks were finished with apple green ospreys at the side. A pretty contrast was made in their bouquets of golden and bronze, chrysanthemums and green streamers. Mr A. 0. Boddington, Auckland, was best, man, and Mr N. S. Johnson, Hamilton, groomsman. Archdeacon Evans, assisted by Archdeacon Gavin, performed the ceremony. Mr R. N. Renaud played the wedding music, Mr 11. W. Kirk by and Mr C. H. Wynyard acted as ushers. The reception was held in a marquee on the lawn at. Wharc-ia, the bride’s home, and here again autumn tints and greenery were used effectively in the decorative scheme. Small howl's of early violets were arranged on the tables, and from beneath a large wedding bell the bridal couple received the good wishes of their friends. Among the many felicitous messages received was a direct telephonic communication on Tuesday evening with the bride s brother, Mr John Shaw, Melbourne. Mrs ?haw wore a frock of black satin beute with godets of georgette, three-quarter length coat- of satin and georgette and small black hat with ostrich plume. Her bouquet was carried out in shades of scarlet and cherry. Mrs Eric Shaw wore a smart frock of myrtle green marocain with coaiee to match, smart bottle green hat and carried a bouquet of autumn flowers Mrs F. M. Shaw, Auckland, aunt of tlie bride, wore a Mack lace frock with coat to match, and close-titling i black hat with ospreys. Miss E. Milward ~ml, wore a smart navy blue frock, and black hat with touches of blue. For travelling Mrs Morris wore a chocolate brown marocain frock with touches of rust, and a velour coat in the same shade with skunk collar and sleeve trimmings. Her small brown felt hat to tone was smartly finished with touchings of rich rust velvet.
