ROTOTUNA.
Ping Pong Social, The Rototuna Ping Pong Club opened its season with a social evening, which was well attended. The executive officers are : —President, Rev. J. Dennis; vice-president, Rev. J. Haslop; secretary, Mr J. Thompson; treasurer, Mr E. J. Carson; and committee. Valedictory. The members of the Young Ladies’ Bible Class were entertained by their leader, Mrs S. Clements, at her residence recently, for the purpose of bidding farewell to three of their number, the Misses Evelyn, Joan and Gwen Griffith, prior to their departure from the district. The afternoon passed pleasantly in games, tennis and competitions. Mrs Clements expressed regret at the need for saying farewell, and on behalf of herself and the class presented Miss Evelyn Griffith with a framed picture, and Misses Joan and Gwen Griffith with a cup, saucer and plate, each. The guests, who were accorded musical honours, feelingly acknowledged the gifts.
Churoh Anniversary. The first anniversary of the Rototuna Church was celebrated on Sunday. The Rev. ,T. Dennis conducted tho. service in the afternoon and preached an able and appropriate sermon. Miss Clements rendered the solo, "Redeeming Grace." ■Mr Attwood occupied the pulpit In Hie evening and spoke of "The Church, Past, Present, and Future.” The anniversary was continued on Wednesday, In the, form of a tea, followed by a concert. Opportunity was taken to extend a welcome to the Rev. and Mrs Dennis. Mr A. E. Thomas spoko words, of welcome on behalf of the congregation; Mr A. F. Attwood, representing tlie Young Ladies and Young Men’s Bible Classes; Mr A. H. Clement, for the Sunday School; and the Rev. J. Haslop, on behalf of the week night Rllile Class and the Presbyterian portion of the community. Mr Dennis made suitable acknowledgment.
The following programme was rendered by Hamilton friends:—Pianoforte duet. Misses Findlay and .lames; solo, Mr C. MrCready; recitation, Miss 1. Andrews; Highland Fling. Miss Taylor: song. Mr 11. Worm: solo, Miss Forster: recitation, Miss .lames; song, Mr Absolum; sailor’s hornpipe, Miss Taylor.
The financial .statement, given by Mr Thomas, displayed the activities of ihe Ladies’ Guild, which had raised for trust purposes during the year £ I NO.
