At the Bank of Australasia’s annual meeting, Earl Middleton, who presided, said it was difficult to prophesy as to the future, but there were some favourable omens. The new Federal Government, like the National Government in Britain, was facing its difficulties. This fact to a large extent had restored confidence that a genuine effort was being made to provide interest payments. Britain’s tariff ought to be an advantage to a producing country like Australia.
