NO SETTLEMENT REACHED. THE TROUBLE SPREADING. (Ry Telegraph.—Press Association,) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. No settlement has been reached in the Waimakariri relief strike. An informal conference yesterday failed, the men not being prepared to accept the proposal that they should continue work until the next meeting of the Trust on April 10, in expectation that something better could be done for them then. It is reported that a number of relief workers engaged near Kaiapo'. have also struck, as a protest against working six days a week for 37s Gd.
