THE FINAL GALLOPS

The plough and the course proper were available at Trentham this morning for fast work by horses on the scene for the Wellington meeting. Unless otherwise stated the work was carried out : on the plough. ( Lady Pam and Spear Lad did a couple of rounds together at a strong half pace. Actaeon sprinted three furlongs In 38s, while Rulanut did slightly better time.
Admiral/ * Drake and Royal Llmond did a couple of rounds at half pace. The Cup candidate, Admiral Drake looks particularly well. Anemometer started in front of the three furlong post and could not he timed but she stretched out nicely. On the course proper, Courtyard caught and heat Gold Trail home by a length, Princess Bell being two lengths away, at the end of half a mile in 47 4-s's. Heremia and High Comedy did easy pace work. A Promising Effort. Grand Lahu was being eased up to beat Lady Rene by. a length at the end of five furlong's in 1.3' 2-5, tho last half mile taking 50 3-ss. It was an attractive showing as Lady Rene is well at present..
Tea Ghat had no troublp in heating Palermo by a couple of lengths at the close of half a mile in'49 4-ss. Flower shaded Shootist at the end of six furlongs in 1.17, the last halfmile h.eing covered In 51 3-ss. Lavington and Oratorlan ran the last three furlongs of their work comfortably in 40 4-ss. Royal Saxon and Nea Lap did a complete round on the course proper, nearly ten and a-half furlongs. They ran the last mile in 1.44 2-5 and the last half-mile In 51 3-ss, finishing together. These horses looked to have had enough at Jhe close of the gallop. Comprls went once round on the course proper, doing his last mile in 1.47 4-5 and the last half-mile ’in 535. He was full of running at the end.
Great Star Appears.
Great Star did about, a mile and a-quarter on the plough, taking 1.49 for the last mile and 54s for the last half-mile. He was under a pull throughout.’ ,Grand Review and Tea Trader, both looking fit, did three-lquarter pace work over five furlongs separately.
Aston fan half a mile on the course proper.in 51s. He was blowing hard at the finish. Ruling Light and llrlsh Chieftain were together at the end of six furlongs on the course proper in 1.18, the last half-mile being covered in 50 4-ss. Both look in good/ trim. Autopay was keen to work this morning but was not* allowed to go fast till well into the straight. Gay Court, whose leg -swelled yesterday, showed no sign of lameness in a couple of rounds of strong pace work this morning.
