Air-Commodore j Kingsford Smith and his companions in the Southern Star, in which flying to Australia with English mail, arrived at Batavia yesterday from Singapore and left here at 6a.m. to-day for Koepang, Timor Island. The airmen hope to reach Darwin in two days and" Sydney four ’days later. Mr Allen, co-pilot, and Mr Bolton, engineer, are with Mr Smith. Mr Bolton remained at Alor Star last month.
In an interview at Singapore Mr Smith said he hoped,the Commonwealth Government-would grant National Airways a subsidy so It could operate over the route between Australia and India.
