PAINTED BY FAMOUS ARTIST. The Hon. John Collier, 'the 81-year-old artist who is noted for his portraits of famous ‘and lovely women, is painting the portrait of Miss Madeleine Carroll, one of the most beautiful actresses of the British stage and screen. “The picture is of 'three-quarters length and depicts Miss Carroll in a white evening dress,” Mr Collier told a reporter. Mr Collier has been painting portraits for more 'than half a century. In the Academy 'this year he had a self-portrait which aroused considerable interest. It was a picture painted from his retlection in a distorted mirror. He declared that he painted It as a little Joke, because he was "so tired of 'the distorted stuff that these so-called ‘modern’ people paint."
