A protracted investigation by the Industrial Magistrate, Mr Prior, resulted In stringent criticism of the three Commissioners, comprising the Western Lands Board, whom he declared to be guilty of misbehaviour and Incompetence by their refusal or deliberate neglect to carry out the duties of their office. The State Government has decided to dismiss them and appoint the following as a new board: Mr P. M. McGirr, Legislative Councillor, and a brother of Mr J. McGirr, Minister of Health; Mr Watson, ■ surveyor of Forbes, and a Lang Plan candidate for Calare at the recent Federal election; and Mr W. Stagg. secretary of the Returned Soldiers' League. The term of appointment is seven years. Mr P. M. McGirr, as chairman will receive £ISOO a year and the others £IOOO.
The announcement of the personnel caused surprise.
