FIRMS AND ADVERTISING. In a special report of September last,, the Advertiser’s Weekly of Great Britain supplies an analysis of information received from a representative selection of national advertisers. Tho returns show that of all the advertisers who have supplied information: 48 per cent are increasing their appropriation by an average of 20 per cent.
39 per cent, are maintaining their advertising expenditure at much the same level; and
13 per cent, are reducing their advertising expenditure, the average decrease being 15 per cent-. The firms increasing their appropriations are, In most cases, suppliers of necessities or secondary luxuries. The trades they embrace are: Pharmaceutical products, cereals, motor cars, household cleansers, toothpastes, lifo Insurance, surgical appliances, paints and varnishes, outfitters, tailors, . and home electrical equipment.
