Mr C. Ctissen, of Christchurch, Is on a visit to Hamilton.
Dr. Kent Jones, the prominent cereal chemist, who visited New Zealand recently, is to be presented with an album of photographs of the Dominion, autographed by members of the New Zealand Wheat Research Institute in recognition of his assistance.
Mr W. T. G. Airey, lecturer in history at the Auckland University College, returned lo Auckland by Hie Maunganui from Sydney yesterday after attending the conference of the Institute of Pacific Relations in Hangchow.
A pleasant surprise was received by Dr. and Mrs ,T. Gibb at I heir home in Seatoun, Wellington, when the officebearers of Sf. John’s Presbyterian Church called to extend congratulations on the occasion of Ihe fiftieth anniversary of their wedding, and presented I hem will) a tangible recognition of the esleom in which they arc hold hy I lie office-bearers and friends of St. John’s, together with an appropriate address.
Sir George Adolphus King, Bart., arrived at Auckland hy the Maungnmii from Sydney yesterday on a holiday tour of New Zealand. “What l really would like to do.’’ Sir George said, “ is in gel a chance of riding some wild horses in your hack country. Wherever one goes these days there is Ii 11 lo chance of lids spoil, owing to the concrete roads."
As a token of appreciation of fits services lo cricket in New Zealand, the Auckland veteran wicketkeeper, Mr It. W. Bowntree, was presented with a case of pipes at Wellington yesterday. Mr P. B. Broad, chairman of the Wellington Grickel Association, made Ihe presentation on behalf of the Wellington public and old players.
