There was a sensation in the Legislative Assembly this afternoon when the deputy-leader of the Country Party, Mr M. F. Bruxner, stated Dial lie had evidence that the Meat Board had agreed to lease the Homebush abattoirs to a private company. lie said he had a copy of a letter by Mr W, Gordor, chairman oi directors of the Australian Graziers’ Meat Company, claiming that an agreement for a 21 years’ lease had been obtained. The Premier, Mr J. T. Lang, denied any knowledge of a lease. “Liar," exclaimed Mr Bruxner, as he left the Chamber.

The Railway Brotherhoods have stated that they are unable to accept the 10 per cent, wage cut imposed by the Canadian railways upon the running trades. It is announced that, following a conference of union leaders and railway officials, further conversations have been adjourned until the middle of January.

A letter read in (he Assembly indicated that a lease of Ihe llomehush abattoirs is contemplated for a term of 21 years to the Australian Graziers’ Meal Co.. Ltd., of which Mr Scott, the present chairman of the Meat, Board, was director before liis appointment to this -office. Graziers in the city understand that there is a move, by American interests to secure I lie lease. Jt is rumoured 'that, the Labour caucus will oppose die proposed lease, but the Meat Board's powers are iniehalicngal.de.
