WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
AT GORDONTON. The annual meeting of the Gordonton A\ ; omen’s Institute was held recently in the hall, Airs D. Riddell presiding. An interesting report of the year’s work was presented by the secretary and the treasurer’s report showed that the finances were in a very satisfactory condition. The following officers were elected for the ooming year:—President, Mrs AV. J. Bridgman; vice-president, Airs H. R. Hill; secretary, Airs W. J. Carswell; treasurer, Airs J. Sainsbury; committee, Alesdames D. Desmond, H. Alayall, T. Riddell. The retiring committee were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their work in the past year. . The winner of the points prize for competitions was Mrs D. Riddell. Airs H. Ross, Hamilton, gave a short talk of the alms of the children’s camp at the Heads. Mrs Brown, Hamilton, rendered two songs and Mrs Linder (Hamilton) gave two humorous items, which were appreciated by all. A collection ol vegetables eto., was handed to Mrs H. Ross by the Gordonton members to be sold In aid of the Children’s Camp Fund. The hostesses were Alesdames Young, Faville and Aliss F. Alayall.
AT HUNTLY.
The Huntly AA r omen’s Institute held its final .meeting for the year on AA’ednesday in the Town Hall Lodge Room. There was a good attendance and a very enjoyable evening was spent. After the singing of the institute song, the secretary briefly read the past year's reports, which had been very successful, due largely to the work of the energetic president. A most instructive lecture and demonstration on “ First Aid," was given by Airs Turner, which was very much appreciated. A competition, “ The Best Hand-made Article,” the cost not to exceed one shilling, proved a hard task for the judge, who eventually awarded the prize to Mrs J. Rumney, who exhibited a hat made with paper. The winner of another competition was Afrs Harrison. The roil call, “The Household Task I most Dislike," was very varied and amusing. Community singing concluded the evenings’ entertainment, after which a dainty supper was served. Airs G. Liddle then thanked the ,retiring president and Airs .?. Rumney proposed thanks to all the. relhing members.
