RUGBY FOOTBALL.

i (To the Editor.) Sir, —In one of your Issues of last ; week I noticed that -Mr E. Whiting, ’ the Hamilton Rugby Union meeting brought forward a scheme which he I thinks would again bring Hamilton - back to its normal stand of a year or i two ago. Evidently lie has given tho i matter a lot of thought and deserves ; credit for trying to bolter things. I , have read ills scheme through several i times, and have come to the conclusion 1 that it would he a wash out. What , enthusiasm arc matches with TaupirJ, | Raglan and Waipa going to create? We had the Binnio Cup match with Waipa, and then again I he Waikeria with the Junior rcpresenlnive team a few weeks ago and how many attended Rugby Park lo see I lie matches? He suggests doing away with the clubs. What is to lie gained by the change?—Nolhing as far as 1 can sec. Every now | and then centres and clubs have their lean and off seasons, and this last season Hamilton has had its share, owing in the llrst place In hart selection | iu her representatives which lost her Hie Pence Cup. Tills loss seems to [ ‘save taken the heart out of the play-

'Zt and °J lll '! alB al,ke - s °me players vU o were in the writer’s opinion Justly entitled by the form shown In the club matches to inclusion In tho representative team were Ignored completely and their olub mates, knowing this, havo lost all faith in the Union. This also applies to the football public. They seem to have lost all interest, and are beginning to think the Union | 3 only a take down. What is wanted ts a change in the management; loss money spent bn programmes and school players and more interest taken in the senior grades. Tills proposed Taranaki stunt Is no use to Hamilton. I am hoping the City team will bo revived next season which will again put new hfe into Ilugby in Hamilton.—4 am, ,r ~. „ OLD SPORT. Hamilton, September 22, 1931. t—i— ■ ,
