BEEF VALUES FIRMER. STEADY DEMAND MET WITH. RANGE OF PRICES. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:—That at Westfield to-day they penned IS4 head (144 steers, 40 cows and heifers) compared with 109 last Wednesday. The quality generally Avas first-class. There was a steady demand, and in odd cases of choice medium-weight cattle values were a trifle firmer. Extra choice ox sold to 2Ss per 1001 b; choice ancl prime, 25s to 275; secondary and plain, 21s to 235; prime young cow and heifer beef, 24s to 2Gs; secondary, 20s to 235.
Extra heavy prime steel's ranged from £ll to £ll 17s 6d; heavy, £lO to £lO 17s Gd; lighter, £3 15s to £9 17s Gd; light, £7 to £S 12s Gd; small and unfinished, £5 10s to £G 17s Gd; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £G 10s to £7 15s; heavy, £5 10s to £G 7s 6d; lighter, £4 to £5 7s Gd; others, £3 to £3 17s Gd.
