ROWING.

FIXTURE AT HAMILTON. WELLINGTON OBJECTS TO DATE. (Py Telegraph.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON. Monday. The Wellington Amateur Rowing Association to-night inslrueted its delegates to the annual meeting of th'-> New Zealand Council to vote against the proposal of the Auckland Association to hold the Dominion championship regalia at Hamilton on January 29. There was no objection to the venue, but the date was opposed, firstly, because it was too soon after the Christmas holidays and, secondly, it was ultra vires in that the rules state that the regatta must not be held before January 31. The suggestion was made that the Inter-provincial eight-oared regatta be held each year on a fixed date, preferably at Easter. A recommendation is to be made to the New Zealand Council to this effect.
