ADDRESS BY MR VALDER. The last of a short course of lectures under the W.E.A. movement was given to a well-attended meeting it Te Kowhal recently by Mr H. Valder. The speaker, In a concise and interesting manner, dealt with the ever-in-creasing problem of the relations jf capital and labour in industry, the issue of labour shares to ail operatives and the granting of an effective voice in the policy and conduct of the business, in which they are engaged, was ad\ocatrd as a means to the creation of a better understanding. The rise of Bolshevism was attributed by the speaker, to an inherent defect in the relations of the component parties in the capitalistic system of society. Tho co-partnership plan, which lias now rereived the endorsement of many of the world's leading thinkers, and industrialists, will, the speaker submKted. be a stop in the right direction for overcoming the* present economic impasse. Mr \ alder was briefly supported by Mi F. X. de ’a Mare, who was responsible for the drafting of the companies Empowering Act of 1924 which makes the application of the Nalder Plan legally possible. in thanking the visitors for an Interesting address, Mr C. V Magner, paid a tribute to Ihe devoted zeal displayed by Mr Nalder in tne proserution of his practical ideal, and said that the T« Kowhai district was pleaded and proud tn line had an opportunity of hearing him.
